Then we’ll start galloping towards the West Mitten Butte, follow by the East Mitten Butte. They are also known together as, The Mittens. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards.
If you capture the Merrick Butte at an angle you see that it’s between the West & East Mitten Buttes. All three buttes are commonly seen together in many popular films and images. It’s elevation is over 6,200 ft making it one of the tallest buttes in Monument Valley.
Located northwest of The Mittens, it’s a mountain with an elevation over 6,400 ft. Most of the mesa is in the state of Utah, but a small southern section of it is in the state of Arizona. This breathtaking mesa can be seen from the Monument Valley Visitor Center.
